Let's Talk About Books: The 39 Clues: The Maze of Bones by Rick Riordan

Love the 39 Clues? Or want to try the popular series?

Here's your chance! If your in grade 5 or 6, come to "Let's Talk About Books" on Wednesday, April 7th from 5:30 - 6:30 pm. We'll be discussing The 39 Clues: The Maze of Bones by Rick Riordan

The 39 Clues book series has become one of the most popular choices among many young readers. Find out what all the fuss is about! We'll discuss the book, The Maze of Bones by Rick Riordan, as well as learn how to collect the playing cards and use them for an online adventure.

The first 15 to register receive a free copy of the book.

Book a Trip! Read!

Winter is in full swing and that means it's time for our annual Winter Reading Club! Book a trip, escape the cold, and discover the world through books and activities. Register as a family for Winter Reading Club 2010 and pick up your "Reading Itinerary" at the Youth & Parent Services desk. Join us for Games around the World on January 18, and get ready to explore. We will travel to six continents in two months. Each week, add stickers to your travel book and receive prizes for reading together! Our journey ends on March 13, when we celebrate our achievements at the Lion King Magic Show with Magician Arnie Kolodner.

New York Life Insurance Company will host this family-friendly event, which will inform parents and children on how to stay safe in the home, at play, or wherever they happen to be in the community. We continue the interactive play and sharing encouraged by participants in the Parent/ Child workshop. Get ready for the fun and excitement of a carnival, right here at the library! The jubilant juggler, Jester Jim, will start the festivities at 1:00pm. Then enjoy fun games with prizes, face painters, and treats for school-aged children as a way to celebrate the end of the school year and the long awaited start of summer. There will also be registration for the Summer Reading Club at 10:00am IN PERSON. So come one, come all, for the super summer carnival on June 26th! No registration required.

Summer Reading Club!

Get ready for the summer reading club!! This year's theme: Be Creative @ You're Library! Starting this summer, follow the paint splattered foot-steps to Youth & Parent Services to register and report on books you read this summer. The more you read, the more paint splotches will cover our room. Look for librarians who will visit your school and give out special prizes. Throughout the summer you can earn up to 10 fun prizes. Read at least one book to get an invitation to the fantastic final party in August.

Last summer (2008) we had our "Bee a Video Reporter" program, and stars were born! Our younger patrons got their chance to stand in front of the camera and show, discuss, and recommend books they’ve read. We learned about books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid (and its sequel), Harry Potter, Camp Confidential, Cam Jansen, The Day My Butt Went Psycho, and even The Guinness Book of World Records, plus 12 others!
