2012 Caldecott Medal...

Congratulations to A Ball for Daisy, by Chris Raschka for winning the 2012 Caldecott Medal!!! According to the American Library Association, the medal "is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children." What this means, really, is that A Ball for Daisy is a really awesome picture book with particularly fantastic illustrations...and that you should read it now! It tells the heartwarming story of a dog named Daisy and her relationship with her favorite toy ball... Click here to check it out!

Three other titles were given the distinction of "honor" books. This means that they were also considered to be exceptionally illustrated, but not the "top dog!" They are...

Grandpa Green, by Lane Smith

Me...Jane, by Patrick McDonnell

Congratulations to all of these books, especially their creators!!! You should check them out and decide for yourself which one deserves to be the winner!!!
